Sealing Header Studs

Recommended Posts

Pulled my older Stahl header and downpipe to put a sensor bung in for an AFR and re-paint.  The studs were in reasonable shape, but replacing them and of course installing new copper nuts.  I know the 4 upper studs need to be sealed.  I have cleaned them of all oil, pulled the valve cover and made sure all oil in that zone is gone.

Seems like there are some differing opinions on how these should be sealed.  Blue Threadlock, Red Threadlock or Copper RTV.  What should I use?

IMHO use a thread locker I usually use the red but if all I had was blue well what the hell. Also I would use the late style gasket with the built in heat shield.

If everybody in the room is thinking the same thing, then someone is not thinking.
