square tail light rubber gaskets

Recommended Posts

For years i thought my trunk seal was leaking because when ever i washed my car, a little water would enter the trunk. Turned out to be the tail lights. I loosened the lights, put a strip of foam insulation around the perimeter and retightened the tail lights. Have never had another drop enter the trunk.

EPDM black 3/16" foam cord is available from McMasterCarr, for item #3 in the illustration. Seal between the lens and frame.

10 feet long, enough for 2 cars both sides Part number 8605K114, $11.96.

Fits perfect. I have had no luck finding seal number 5... rsorted to repairing and sealing the old ones.

Since this thread was brought back from the dead....

What are people doing about the NLA right side body to lamp gasket? PN 63211356942 . I had no idea this was so hard to find until I threw my old one away and went to buy more.

I put a pair of square taillights in the for sale section that have very decent quality used gaskets on them, I marked as NLA but I will be going to where I have them stored on Monday and would sell the pair as advertised if someone bought them before then.

I have not personally done this but in the maintenance log that came with my 74tii, the previous owner who had installed LED tail lights noted that "rear taillight lens seals were NLA when the LEDs were installed.  Silicone sealant was used." For what it is worth.

Blue towels? If you know anyone that works in a hospital. It is a travesty and in some hospitals any surgical tray that gets opened has blue towels for draping etc. etc. A very good majority of them go unused and untouched and go in the trash. Some dutiful people save them. If you know someone ask them.

They are good cotton, and have to be lint free. They work best after you wash them once and they fluff up.  I can't see them go to waste so I gather them up. If they get too trashed, I don't feel bad throwing them away because that is where there were going to go in the first place.

Loose: Not tightly bound. Subject to motion.
Lose: What happens when you are spell check dependent.

1975 Malaga. It is rusty and  springs an occasional leak.  Just like me.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
