Remote Servo Replacement Option

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Can any brake people help me out here I have been looking for a suitable single remote servo to replace the twin remote servo setup on my RHD 2002.

And have recently come across this product.

https://www.mpbrakes.com/pc_product_detail.asp?key=AE0F85E9DDC446C8AFA40191940E1C58

Has anyone had experience with this product or know if it would work with the stock MC?

Thanks for your time,

Are you converting your brakes to a single circuit? If not you will need to stick with dual servos due to the way the brakes are split (the top pair of calipers pistons are on a different circuit to the bottom pair and the rear brakes).

Ya...RHD cars have TWO remote boosters. SO he'd need 2X of these. I use 1X on my LHD 1600 with the early remote booster setup. There is a dual unit on that same site as well...id prolly go with a medium

Small:

Medium:

I would caution that there was a guy on here recently that replaced his servos with 3:1 ratio ones and found his brakes were on a hair trigger and locked up all the time. Factory was 1.5:1 so wouldn't go beyond 2:1.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Sorry for the misleading information yes I have already converted to single line brakes so I am after just the single servo not two I already have a twin setup now that works just fine but there is no room in the engine bay with the new engine and am not looking to relocate just looking for a single remote servo capable of assisting both the front disks and the rear drums.

Thank you for your time again I really appreciate it.

Going back to your original post, the servo you show looks fine. This will do the front brakes and the back brakes are unassisted. Obviously the different flares and couplings need to be taken into account (they are UNF) for the installation. This may need some custom brake pipes with metric fittings on one end and UNF on the other.

Thank you Simeon I appreciate your help.

So I'll sort the custom flares and piping and run the front brakes through the booster and the back brakes boosterless. Can I ask what would happen if I ran both the front and the back through that booster?

I suspect you could try that but the balance may not be right. The installation instructions talk of using a twin circuit master and running the front port through the servo and onto the brake calipers (alone) implying that the rear port goes to the drums unboosted.
