Loose Rear Hub - What part do I need?

Thanks for the followup- those are good pictures.

In addition to the spline damage, I've marked 2 other places that wear happens-

and what has caught some out is that a slightly loose hub can still have good splines,

but the hub face (circled) and end of the spacer (red arc) wear enough to compress

new bearings.  AND if one was to measure incautiously, one might miss that the spacer

now sits down in that groove that has been worn in the end of the hub face.

Toby, you pointed out something I did not consider. Now I'm looking closer at the assembly. I'm hoping I can get away with just replacing the shaft as the hub splines seem ok...or maybe not. Right rear hub is loose. Car shakes like crazy(obvious from the video). What part(s) do you guys think needs replacing? It is a 76 2002

Turns out the crown nut was loose because it didn't have a pin. tightened it and put a pin in. No more shaking. Thanks fellas

I wonder what ever happened with the original poster (OP), SevenO2? From the video posted there is no way I can imagine that was simply a loose crown nut. I will say the ensuing conversation has been most useful.

Toby: I am unclear on what you meant by "AND if one was to measure incautiously, one might miss that the spacer now sits down in that groove that has been worn in the end of the hub face."

The spacer contacts the bearing inner race, not the hub. Are you saying the inner race of the outer bearing is pressed into a worn relief in the hub? I've never seen a broken rear hub bearing like you one you showed! --Fred

I downloaded the hub pic and zoomed in.  The splines look shot too me.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

Sorry, Jim's right, that hub's shot.  Sorry, Naz.

Fred, whoops, you're right, it's the inner race of the bearing that makes the dent in the hub mating surface, isn't it?

And then the inner race also wears at the spacer, sometimes, if everything's moving around.  Or sometimes not...

Take a look at how the bearing race has worn itself into the mating face on the hub.

If you somehow managed to measure the mating face at the outer diameter, it'd measure taller (thicker)

than if you measured it near the splines.

My rule is that if it shows any wear on the hub face or spacer, I clamp it up with the whole mess together,

as it will assemble, and see how it measures.
