engine and drivetrain E30 Oil Pump Plate/ Frankenstein Pump

Week from the first race so its only natural a somewhat large issue arrived.... So we have a e30 oil pump with a 2002 pickup and pan. Oil pressure is around 30-45 when warm and in the revs. idle is around 15-20 psi. We noticed the 2002 pickup had no steel plate between the pickup and pump gear and the e30 did. So basically the 2002 pickup which is aluminum has the pump gear rubbing against it as on the stock 2002 pump. Does anyone see any issue with putting the e30 plate that goes between the pump and pickup onto the existing setup? Im thinking the stronger and flatter steel plate should solve/improve our pressure issues by tightening up tolerances.

That was a retrofit to later 2002 pumps, too.  Put it in- it's all win.
