Another set of wheels I bought from a fellow FAQ member, pichos1:

Good and true wheels.  Thanks pichos1.

After refinishing them, I had them put on at my buddy's tire shop:

I really like these on the white car:

Since driving with the bus wheel, I've missed the larger grip that the 3 series sport wheel has.  So now, I'm ready for the True Friends drive this weekend in Northwest Arkansas.  Bo Black always has a great drive mapped out for us.

This picture is from my Verona '71

Well, my trip to  the True Friends drive ended in fuel pump failure.  I managed to keep it running by driving on the warning cuts on the freeway.  It would jar the pump into operation until it stopped again.

So, I limped home, ordered another in-tank pump, had the tank cleaned and coated, and now hope that will be the end of fuel starvation.  Here are some shots of the coated tank:

Since there are no pick & pulls close by, I improvised on the connectors for the 318 fuel pump and was able to find suitable parts at Bumper to Bumper.  See my post here for the information:  http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/146868-electrical-connectors-for-318is-fuel-pump-conversion/

Once this is installed, I'll slide the green rubber sleeve over

the joint between the two pieces.

These connectors are for the fuel level sender.

All ready for the addition of fuel.  I'm going to add it in one (1) gallon increments

and check the fuel level at the gauge.  I'd like to know how accurate it is.  Also added

an extra smaller fuel filter as seen in photo.

Great stuff, Mike.  I have the bus wheel and original seats in my tii, still.

I'd love to drive it sometime with a wheel like have you in your pic, and with a recaro seat.  Just to see the difference in feel.

Those wheels you got look great on your car - it's looking awesome.

Mike-

Would you be kind enough to detail a bit of the installation of said strips, i.e. cutting/trimming to fit, adhesion, etc. BTW, how has it held up since you replaced the original mylar?

Thank you,

Wendell

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
