I had been looking for another car, and Andy Stuckey kept telling me about a shell he had in Greensboro, NC. Then, someone posted a rusty '73tii for sale, but with a good engine. That cinched it for me. I persuaded Andy to sell me the Chamonix '73 and Marshall Lytle and I purchased the 1973 rusty tii. I got all the tii components and he kept the rest.

The BMW 2002 US Automatic VIN 2533497 was manufactured on November 24th, 1972 and delivered on November 30th, 1972 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Chamonix, paint code 085

The BMW 2002 tii US VIN 2763484 was built on February 19th, 1973 and delivered on February 21st, 1973 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Verona, paint code 024

This blog will track the progress of the tii clone, known as "Marilyn".

My brother, Danny, is convinced to drive with me the 2500 miles to get the car and the engine. Car was in Greensboro, NC and the engine was in Alexandria, VA. I'd never been to the East Coast by car, so it was going to be an adventure for me. He'd driven it many times on vacation, so he showed me the sights along the way.

Rather than haul an empty trailer, we took a car for Andy Stuckey to Greg Lavelles, then picked up the Chamonix.

After talking with Danuel Smith of Skips, we came to an agreement on getting the engine detailed and installed in the Chamonix. I even spent the night with "the other woman" at Skips garage and worked most of the night on the car and engine.
