play in wiper assembly

the passenger side wiper shaft has enough play to throw the wiper blade off when in use. Any thoughts on how to repair? thanks!

Take your digital camera, stick it in the cowl and take a picture.

Or you can use a small mirror and flashlight to inspect the wiper pivot and linkage arm.

Yes. The rubber grommit has a metal sleeve

Those little rubber grommets make a HUGE difference. Mine had deteriorated to the point of becoming black goo. I could move the whole wiper assembly inches with the wiper blades off. Those little rubber grommets tightened everything up. Available from BMW, and not an arm and leg to buy.

Any parts that look like this need to be replaced - even if you buy good used ones.

Thank you for posting the pictures and the part number for the sleeve. Do you know the part number for the rubber grommets? I can't seem to find it on the parts drawing for the wiper assembly.

I may have found the part number for the grommet. I think it might be 61611353754, Damper Ring. Can anyone confirm that for me?
