Well, he was known to become quite creative under the influence of stale beer, mixed nuts and cigarettes. That, with a bit of 10-40 and track dust up his nostrils for good measure, and he could become downright god-like in his creative genius - hence all the Shiny Metal Parts.

His application to the BMW museum in Munchen was turned down, sadly, so he gutted the shell and reinserted The Shiny Parts into a Hillman Minx, resubmitted his work to the Rootes Group, who sent it along to their Cockney Division, where it finally found some deserved respect among the beer drinking cognoscenti of the East End, where it would peal back the skins of Lotus-Cortina's and the like.

Only years later did The Shiny Metal Parts return to the U.S., sans Hillman shell, under the careful stewardship of an American soldier who knew the bespoke value of an Offie manifold when he saw one.

One can only surmise that the Shiny Metal Parts live still in some state of grace south of the Dixie-line.

The best.

Mother was German, father was...well...

An American WWII soldier with $5 and a couple free R&R minutes in Munich judging by the offspring:)

With stars-n-bars on the roof it would look even more like the General Lee's awkward 'tweenage half step cousin from Europe. Love it, great recycling of a squarie..less usefull than rebar but a hell of a lot more interesting.

Growing up with Chevy powered Fiat Topolinos, 392 Chrysler powered Anglias, I have a certain affinity for supercharged V8s in just about anything.

Now having said that, the car has appeared here on the FAQ previously, and I still don't get it.

The homely little BMW we all like, has been rendered into a retro "butt ugly" 60's gasser.
