New tii running rougn

Just got the car. Ran great. Had it tuned.

I put some fuel injector cleaner in the tank on the mechanic's recommendation Worked great. Now,

1. Rough idle - engine shakes.

2. No power - not immediate response

3. Funny burning smell

4. Backfire on deceleration

Any suggestions?

sounds like timing

if i were you i'd check the points gap and get a goo timing light and follow the procedure i your manual

check your spark plug wires at the cap and at the plugs to make sure everything is seated properly

did it just happen, or did it happen after you did something to the car, like change plugs etc?

fuel pressure test = 30psi with a guage T'd in at the cold start

injector on top of the motor

remove the metal gas filter infront of the battery

and blow it out (blow into the OUTLET end so the

fuel and JunqUe comes out of the INLET fitting)

into a glass jar and report back

Compression test = REALLY! - it sets the standard for motor health

a car you have no true background on - and with little/no/uneven

compression readings nothing else you throw at it will matter

Problem solved. Gas tank was full of junk that stopped up the pick up screen. Cleaned it out, good to go. Thanks Keith K.

I'd have to say this is the most common problem with tii's. The BMW Engineers put those screens in there to protect the fuel pump and injection pump.

Congratulations - now make sure the other (3) screens in the system are clean.
