they look a little tacky imo.

Lots of accessories from the 70's look tacky. Just look at Bell Bottoms!

I have an unmolested deck lid... and i want to keep it that way.

..but I just noticed the aftermarket speaker kit in the back window

I'm not convinced they are the same ones. Look at the slope on the ends, look more rounded on the o2. Regardless, they are sweet.

Tacky or not I want it.

Tacky or not I'd buy it.

There was someone selling one on ebay in the last month or two. I wanted it but couldn't justify it at the time.

Brian, that pic of the black set is from the eBay auction.. It sold for something +/- 200 bucks as I recall.. I wanted it too.

Josh, The only thing about reissuing that thing would be the vintage speaker grills. I have an identical set in our '76 that are on little surface mounted pods.

The talk before was of also incorporating a 3rd brake light in the center.

A model could easily be sculpted out of blue contractor foam board, then skim coated with plaster or bondo, sanded, and a mold cast with fiber glass..

Maybe I'll tinker with that in my current massive amount of spare time..
