Friday bonus: German 1502 Sales Brochure

The CFO of the company where I work noticed I was driving a tii to work on several occasions and told me he used to own a "little Blue BMW". He told me he picked his car up in Germany and drove it around Europe.

He then said: "I kept some paperwork from that car" and promised he would bring whatever he could find to show me. He picked up this brochure when he bought the car. Publication date is 2/76.

His car was a Pastellblau 1502 purchased December 1976. I'll post more info later.

Jim,

It's interesting to see that the Euro model of the 1502 (inside the brochure) is the same color as the US version 2002 in the 2/75 brochure and that the background is the same restaurant.

BMW has done the same with later models, using the same exact background (but Photoshopped) with a newer model placed in the photo. But the 1502/2002 shots were two separate shots.

Friend of mine in Munich has a low-mileage red 1976 1502.

I thought I had seen that same restaurant in another brochure!

Here's the 1976 USA version from Keith Kreeger's website.

And this is the brochure that got me into 02s as an 8-year-old. My dad was car shopping and ended up with a used VW Notchback instead.

Same restaurant as on another page with the Golf 1502 backing into the parking space. Note the brown-colored '02 in front of the Golf one! Maybe used in another sales picture?

Do you have any pics of the Notchback???

I don't think so. Uncle Sam sent us to Hawaii a couple of years later, and my mom doesn't drive stick, so dad sold it. If there is a picture of it, it's buried at my folks' house in TX. I remember it being bright orange. I always thought the Notchback was a more usable vehicle than the Beetle, plus being more rare.
