Final Stages of Paint and a 2002 T-Shirt Design

While my car is finally getting painted this week after being at the body shop for over 3 months, I decided to make this t-shirt graphic that I had an idea for.  It seems like the closer the car gets to having paint and body complete, the more impatient I become.  Glad I could occupy my time with the graphic while I wait for the call from my paint and body guy saying that the car is done.  I'm thinking of printing a small amount of shirts so If you're interested, please hit me up.

Now, the car is being painted Riviera blue.  It took me a long time to decide the color being a graphic designer and all but I feel like I picked a color that is just perfect for me.   I'm keeping the chrome trim but deleting the lower trim.  I also deleted the front side reflector holes as well as some of the bumper holes.  I'm putting the big bumpers back on but I told the body guy to delete a number of bumpers holes on the side of the car and around the back.  I plan on eventually getting early bumpers and when I do, I wont have those ugly big holes on the side of the car.  The only problem with deleting some of the bumper holes right now is that the rubber accordion bumper things will have to be attached without the bolts,  I'm thinking I can hack the bolts off and use some strong 3m tape. maybe??  Below are some picture of the car.  The guys at Uptuned auto in Glendale did a hell of a job cause the car I dropped off to them was rusty and had more bondo on it than paint.  Oh, Uptunded auto also did a hell of a job spraying the engine bay with the engine in!.  I know you all may be displeased with this information but I'm on a budget, with no garage and no patience to pull the motor out and do an lengthy retoration.  Plus I want to drive it, A LOT and NOW!  Hope you enjoy the pics and hit me up if you're interested in a shirt.

Cheers

Very nice!  Both the car and the t-shirt.  I have  a 1970 in the same color.  Put me down for one of the shirts.

Very cool, car and shirt!

My project car will be Riviera once again one day!

On the shirt, I am wondering why you retained the rear side marker, but not the front.

Cheers,

Thanks halboyles, I'll let you know when I print them.  Thanks Ray, that's a good catch with the side marker, actually the graphic is missing the front turn signal and side marker.  I did a really quick mockup which you see in the pictures.  The original design has  front signals and markers but I guess it didn't make it to the final picture above.  Haha, that will be fixed when I screen print the shirts.

Thanks jmel02, I'll contact you when the shirts get printed.  Thanks for your interest Boytutpik, just to clarify, is the shirt size you want a doubleXL or doubleXXL? Just want to make sure its the right size.

Boytutpik, already planning on printing some XXL's!!  So interesting story about the cost of the work.  I met my bodyshop guy through an ex and was quoted $3500 before any work was done.  I think I was quoted the homie discount price.  There was quite a bit of bondo on the car that was discovered later and some welding that needed to be done as well.   We haven't discussed the final price yet but I am also creating a website for them so that will be factored into the price as well.  Have yo got any quotes?  Where are you located?

The car is looking great; can't wait to see it trimmed up.  I would appreciate an XXL T.  I'll p/u the cost and shipping to Switzerland!

Nick, Thanks so much man!  Boytutpik, that seems like pretty accurate quotes for legit body shops.  I took a gamble with my paint and body guy cause he was just starting his own business.  He did all the bodywork outside except for paint.  I got lucky cause he did a really good job.  Also, Phoenix is a large area and theres a ton of bodyshops spread throughout the valley.  Lots in industrial areas.  And labor is cheaper here.  It helps if you speak spanish too, or pretend to in my case.  I think you're gonna get a hell of a good paint job when you pay up and have a hot rod or resto shop do it.  The cheaper route could work out too if you know the place does good work.

The shirts are in!  Sorry for the delay.  I'll be selling them for $20 plus $5 for shipping.  I'll reach out to the people who contacted me first.  The shirt graphic is a true two color screen print.  The shirts are super soft next level brand.  Thanks! 1.jpg
