  1. Yeah, I saw those. I am worried about interference between cylinder 3's horn and the brake booster. That is why I'm planning on the angled ones from IE. In a holding pattern right now though because I just bought a IE chin spoiler and a Nardi steering wheel. Wife doesn't understand how my project car that is supposed to take 5 years is going to be done in 2
  2. Hi all, I am looking to upgrade my 40dcoe's to angled velocity stacks from Ireland Engineering. I do not currently have retainers to hold the stacks in and am wondering if anyone have found the little tabs somewhere other than IE. I cant find myself spending $30.00 per carb for a couple tabs and some nuts. Thankyou for the help
  3. What year is the sahara? Looks just like mine.
  4. Thats just it, I have an e46 sport wagon and i love the seats. One of my friends is parting out a totaled E46 with sport seats and I was thinking. Sounds like they might be too high for me and they are from a 4 door so they wouldn't tilt forward for rear seat access. Thanks guys
  5. Has anyone in the '02 community successfully installed E46 manual sport seats into a 2002? I kept trying the search feature and google and all that comes up is 2002 E46 seats. Its difficult owning a car that is a model year . Any help or guidance would be welcomed
  6. I bought my 2002 last August and the alternator was never charging. Using the Hanes Manual I diagnosed the issue to be the alternator. I decided to upgrade the alternator to one from a 320i. The alternator is a fresh reman from oreilys auto parts. I finally installed it today and wired it with what was recommended. B+ wire went to hot on the alternator and the blue wire went to d+. I started it and it still isn't charging. Couple things did change however. With the stock alternator, the charge light on the dash never came on. Now with the new upgraded alternator, the light come on when the ignition is on, then is dimly lit when running. Does anyone have any direction on where to go? Thanks ahead of time for your help
  7. Very pretty. I wish we could find them like that above the salt line.
  8. If I was trading up, I would go with a 1966 Jaguar E-type. My dad owned 3 of them and it was the first car I ever worked on (am now a ford master mechanic). He has pictures of me sitting on the transmission tunnel disconnecting the drive shaft when I was 3. If I was going same price group, I would buy a '88 or '89 porsche 944 turbo (951) They are entirely under-rated due to the lack of rear engine, however they are so much fun to drive. My friend and I have build his up to just under 500hp.
  9. They are brass. Isn't there two adjustments needed to be made? closed position and open position? just courious. Thanks for the reply
  10. I have searched the forum for information and have found none. I have two 40dcoe149 marked carbs and am in process of rebuilding. I am ready to set my float adjustment and looking in the book there is a significant difference between series of 40dcoe for float adjustments. How do I tell what series mine is so I can adjust to the proper specs. Sorry if this has been brought up before, I just can't find any information. Carb is marked: TIPO 40DCOE149 No 4M Thanks
  11. Does anyone have a recommendation on a carb synchronizer. I am going to rebuild my 40dcoe's and need to re-sychronize when done. What have you used and recommend? Thanks for the help
  12. Thanks for the information. I tried it last night and found it is very easy to do, but I do need new T fasteners. The plastic clips are fine, but some of the T fasteners are missing. It really transforms the look of the car
  13. Do I need new clips? the ones that are on the car are intact and do not look damaged. Thankyou for your quick reply
  14. Does anyone have any good tips on how ti install the belt line chrome? The previous owner decided it would be a good idea to remove all of it. Luckily he was careful removing and all the trim was in the trunk when I bought it. Any tricks or videos if install would be helpful Thanks David
  15. The only liquid gasket maker that is okay on an intake system is anaerobic sealer. Standard RTV hardens in the presents of air. Anaerobic sealer hardens when there is a lack of air. When using standard rtv, the bits on that squeeze out of the mating surface will harden and these can fall off into the intake manifold and cause issues. Anaerobic sealer hardens in the inside (the sealing surface). Any part of the anaerobic sealer that is exposed to air will remain gel like. I have used Anaerobic sealer on superchargers with no problems. If you do have a paper gasket, I would recommend just going with that as it sounds like you have been told already.
  16. Yes sir. Picked it up from my friend's house in brooklin center and it is now in my garage in North Saint Paul
  17. I was leaning towards the transmission mount. The previous owner cautioned me about the motor mounts. He had the fan hit the radiator during spirited driving. He also said that the vibration he was feeling might have been the exhaust rubbing on the underbody. My goal is to get it running (its been 14 years) and then drive it to work so I can stand under it instead of laying on my back (Ford mechanic). I have only had it for a week, but The motor turns over The cooling system holds pressure (it was stored in a non-heated garage in minnesota winters for 14 years) THe previous owner had lost the keys so I have taken the steering column out and have a new lock cylinder showing up today Drilled the lock for the trunk so I can have access to the fuel tank for cleaning. Making progress. I hope to have it running in the next two weeks Thankyou everyone for the warm welcome and the answer to my question. I will have plenty more once I'm further into it
  18. Hey all, My name is David and I have joined the BMW ownership club again. I previously had an E36 Dinan 325I. Sold that a while ago and now have purchased my first 2002. It is a 1974 2002 Sahara. The motor is a '73TII motor that had the factory fuel injection dumped for two weber 45 dcoe sidedraft carbs. The motor was rebuilt about 3000 miles ago by Korman, but has been sitting for 14 years. A friend of mine owned it and parked it because of a driveline vibration. I didn't want to start out with a stupied question, but I figure it is a good idea to ask before I buy the part I am after. My left side door is in rough shape. It was repaired with bondo about 16 years ago and is cracked all over. I have the ability to purchase a used door the same color that is in near perfect shape. My dumb question is does a door from a 1972 fit on a 1974 car. I am assuming that it does, but should ask before I pick up the door. Thankyou for your help and I will get pictures up soon of the ride
