  1. Mama don't take my Kodachrome awaaaay... Beautiful shots, no doubt. My brother shoots large format and I'm always blown away with his images. Keep up the good work!! You say you might go Bilstein HDs, but you're riding pretty low. Bilstein Sports will likely serve you better. My '71 is pretty low and changing to Billy Sports made a very noticeable difference in ride quality.
  2. Welcome to the fold, Andrew! Good looking car... I almost bought an Agave out of San Antonio, last year... There is also a Texas 2002 Yahoo Group that is pretty active. Some of us are joining a BMW 5 Series group to drive the western Hill Country on Oct 18-20th. We are meeting in Leakey and driving the 3 Twisted Sisters... Google it...looks verrrrrry twisty, indeed. Should be a lot of fun. I have contacts, if you're interested. If not that drive, Terry Sather has a 2002 drive ( '02ber Fest )planned for the 1st weekend of November. His invite is here on the Texas pages. ...hopefully, my dual Solex project will be completed in time for all this fun... See ya around town...
  3. Ahaaa! That's an interesting way to solve the problem. I can easily fabricate that. Thanks!!
  4. Thanks for this picture, I'll certainly add it to my archives! This is exactly how I pictured it in my head. The carbs I bought had a throttle cable, but the cable was cut... I have the anchor points on the carbs, but nothing to anchor the other end, nor a full-length cable. I found a throttle cable kit today (thanks, Conner). When it arrives, I'll compare it to the throttle rod I have and decide which will work best for me. I'm not building a true Ti replica, but would like to keep to the stock parts as much as possible. Re-fitting the firewall pivot is not beyond my means, but it seems this cable kit will be a cleaner modification. I'll keep you posted as I progress...
  5. Conner is one of the 1st guys I hit up.... he has sold me almost all this gear and has been extremely helpful. He's working on some parts for me right now. When I get this thing all set up, I'll post some pics and give all the trials and tribulations. Hopefully, that will be very soon.
  6. Thanks, Mike, Dang.. I already ordered the ones on eBay. I sent the pic to the Alfa guy on eBay, he says these Zenith main jets are the same size as DDHT jets. The pictures look identical. I ordered four of the 120s. I guess I'll know when they arrive. Not having a wide band O2 sensor, I'll be tuning by the seat of the pants... All the old literature for the Ti shows the 120 as the standard main jet for 40mm carbs; so, I should be pretty close. The 110s I have now were apparently for the European Emissions engine. All the other jets in the carbs match the Ti standard settings. I'm gathering other parts this week (had some fitment issues) and looking forward to having it fired up! Will post build pics when it's done. Ed Z
  7. whoops... I haven't been to the Texas Group pages in a lonnnnnng time. The Sahara-ish car in front of Boat House Grill was me. I live in CP but work in Lakeway, so I'm always running around the Lake Travis area. Haven't seen the others spotted around town, though. Sometimes, I think I'm the only '02 out there.... Ed
  8. Thanks, Jim, I sent him a message with the pic. He shows a jet for a Porsche 911 Zenith TIN carb that looks very similar... we'll see. Ed
  9. Does anyone have these main jets? They appear to be different than the standard Solex jets in that they have a much smaller "shoulder". I have 110 jets in the carbs now, but will probably need a 120 or 125...from what I've researched. My setup is: Stock pistons 292 cam long tube header Tii dizzy with Petronix from IE Hi Amp alternator I'm installing Solex 40DDHTs using 2.5" x 6" Uni Filters on original Ti manifolds Car running in Central Texas about 906' AMSL.. give or take a few feet... See pic... Hope someone can help. If nothing else, I'll have to drill what I have...not sure what drill size to use, though. Thanks, Ed Z Cedar Park, Texas
  10. I started fitting my Solex 40DDHT carbs yesterday and ran into a few fitment issues. I bought a reproduction Ti throttle rod and it became quickly obvious that it does NOT attach on the firewall in the standard ball socket pivot. My question to the experts is, do I retrofit the standard pivot mount towards the center of the firewall, say, in front of the heater fan? How else would I anchor the rod to the firewall? The rod also seems to be about 1-2 inches short; it doesn't seem to reach the carb pivot ball between the carbs. Perhaps the firewall mount takes up the slack...? One other question...do I use the standard accelerator rod? (the rod inside the engine bay running up from the accelerator pedal to the throttle rod) It also appears that it won't reach the attachment point on this Ti throttle rod. Here's a pic of what I have (thanks to Jim Hanks) Thanks, in advance, Ed Z Cedar Park, Texas
  11. I'm looking for a Ti or 320 water neck to clear the dual Solexes on my '71. The rear carb fit perfectly and the original air horns cleared the standard brake booster with ease. The front carb has a couple issues... the plug in the back of the water neck hits the carb/manifold; also, the stock fuel pump hits the starter disc on the top of these 40DDHTs. These are different in a lot of ways from the PHH carbs and I have been struggling to find parts. Jim Hanks thinks he has the proper fuel pump, so kudos to him. I have other questions for the Ti guys that I will post separately. Many thanks, Ed Z Cedar Park, Texas

  20. Thanks for the lead. I emailed him. Hopefully he has something.
  21. Jim, tried to email but its bouncing back. Contact me at edzinz at yahoo. Thanks, Ed Z Austin, Texas
  22. I would like to thank all the fine folks who gave me leads, tips and much needed advice on FAQ. I called on, emailed and looked at sooo many cars for over a year on Craigslist, eBay and here on FAQ. I had several great cars slip right thru my fingers and others that didn't quite make the grade. I found my car on eBay. It never made the reserve, so I contacted the owner afterwards. It was more of a finished car than I had been shopping for, but the write-up of the completed work and the pictures showed it to be a well- built car. After lots of calls and emails for further info, the PO and I settled on a price. I trailered it home with my fearless, 83 year old father. Austin to Wichita, Kansas and back. 1100 miles, 27 hours and one blown tire at 4:30 AM just north of Ft Worth (that'll wake you up!) By the way...? A 20" aluminum wheel for a King Ranch F350 will set you back $1370 if you buy new from Ford. Fortunately, eBay seller Direct out of Boca Raton, Florida has the goods for $474 free shipping!!! Highly recommend her. The car is a '71 Sahara-ish (resprayed long ago, over Sahara) with new engine, new front suspension, awesome interior. Was a rolling shell out of Arizona when the PO got it in 2008. They re-did sooooo many things. The file of receipts that came with the car is huge. Nothing but high quality parts from IE, Redline, BavAuto,etc... Just about new everything. Been driving the car only a few days now, after checking under all the nooks and crannies. It drives well and stops very well. Handles like a go cart with lowered springs and big front sway bar and Bilsteins. Huge BFG 195/50/15s up front and 205/50/15s in back. All running on Panasports. Rolled rear fenders still rub ever so slightly in hardest cornering. Engine with 10.5 pistons and Schrik 292 sounds great thru header and IE full stainless exhaust with a righthand tailpipe. Only carb'd with Weber 32/36 right now, but I have a complete twin Solex 40DDHT setup on the workbench. I only have a couple 100 miles on it, but hope to spend the weekend wearing out some Hill Country roads... Thanks again to all those folks like Ray Koke and Andrew Ganz who helped in my search. It's been a long time, but I think I found a good one. Hope to see y'all on the road!! All the best, Ed Z Austin, Texas Yes... Like everyone under the sun, I am looking for a Roundie. Searching the Craigslistings has been a maddening endeavor. Always getting there right behind the guy who just bought it... Here's a short list of wants: Driving car The less rust, the better (no such thing as a rust-free 2002) Prefer a stock car, but if it has a good stance, I'll give it a look. Engine doesn't need to be perfect, but cracked heads need not apply. I can turn my own wrenches, but bodywork is not my skill. Body should be straight, with all grills and brightwork in place and lights working. Hope someone out there has a good car... Many thanks, Ed Z Austin, Texas
