  2. Good morning all, I am one a few people who has been putting on a car show just outside of Detroit Michigan for the last 11 years. Its called Motorstadt (loose German translation of Motor City). For the first 7 years it was a water cooled VW/Audi only show (with a few air cooled guys) that was held at VW of America headquarters in Auburn Hills MI. When VoA moved to Hernden VA we had to find a new home. That new home is the Austrian Society Club park in Macomb MI. It is a beautiful park area with a great European vibe; lots of grass and trees and places to kick back and hang out with friends and family. The show is very professional but also very low key; no DJ's blasting techno or "rev'ving" engines. Just a great show with great people. Upon moving to the park we began a "European Other" class that has began to take hold in the shape of a few classic and modern BMW, Porsche & Mercedes vehicles. This being our 11th year we want to increase attendance in these categories and have given them their own spot on the voting ballot. We hope to see this become more of a European show than strictly a VW/Audi show but not get to big and keep the laid back mentality of the show in tact. If you are interested in attending (and we hope that you do) you can find more information at our Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Motorstadt There are a lot of pictures to peruse and information on registering. If you own a business and are interested in sponsorship please let me know as I handle all of the sponsorship details. Past and present sponsors include: Bentley Publishing, Tire Rack, Munks Motors, Steves European, Btek Fabrication, APR, Henkel, Bissel, VW of America, Audi of America and many others. I look foward to seeing you at the show! Garrett
  3. I second the "dropping" of the engine. It seems easier on unibody subframe type vehicles. Less wrangling around; it more or less falls out. Good luck.
  4. I'm looking forward to some updates. Love the Alpine White; its by far my favorite BMW color.
  5. I dig it! Whenever I end up finding my own 2002 budget build is definitely where I am headed as well. I look forward to updates and I think that belt line trim looks good!
  6. Looks like a good start to a great project. Keep up the work I look forward to the updates!
  7. I don't have any advice from the perspective of someone who already owns an 02 but I am also on the hunt. I am currently on the hunt as well (don't worry we aren't competing) and have found it to be disheartening at best. Is it just me who feels that the longer I wait the more the prices go up and the more prices go up the more my budget is unrealistic? While I have been eyeing 2002's for years I was never in a position to even consider purchasing one until the last 6 months or so. It seems like anything else; the market is starting to increase in price and those of us who aren't made of money are having to settle for junk or just not own a 2002 at all....... Its a bummer. Good luck on your hunt!
  8. Congrat's Rob! I am about 3/4 of the way through your book which I have thoroughly enjoyed and look forward to checking your articles in R&T.
  9. That it does; but he doesn't seem to have an account since both posts show "guest-anonymous" as the user. Hmmmmm. Well perhaps I'll drop a letter in his mailbox and see what happens!
  10. Hello all, My name is Garrett and I have been a lurker on this site for quite some time hoping one day to get a 2002 in the garage. I am constantly on the hunt! That being said I live in the Brighton MI area and I drive by this house that has multiple 2002's parked out back and was hoping that the owner may be on this site. I don't live to far from his/her place and while I don't want to bother this person if they don't want to be I thought I may be able to pick their brain a little about their collection and what not. Anyway I couldn't think of any other way to reach out to whomever this person is and I certainly don't want to just walk up to the house and ring the bell. Its good to meet you all and maybe someday I will have a car gracing these forums!
  11. Any interest in trades for a 96 Tacoma Reg 4x4? Never hurts to ask.
