  1. He has been making racks for the full VW range, vans , bugs ,slant backs etc so his credentials are excellent I'll touch base with cargo limits from his VW experience.

  4. here are the ones I have , all bolts good 1 split hole at the front , no big deal, still flexible , no cracks ( definately not from California , I bought these for my daughter's car but sold it before I fitted them.
  5. I have a pair I'll dig them out & post a photo tomorrow
  6. I'm retiring to South Kona ( away from the volcano ) on Big Island , no shop , I'm done restoring cars , I see farming in my future, coffee etc My son & I are both taking our 02's so I'll be doing "stuff" but not for a living.
  7. I saw that Esty , reading reviews on line doesn't bode well re fit on simple parts so an 02 dash , that's a complex piece , maybe someone on here has experience ?
  8. I'm tempted , as I have no booster I assume it would fit , just a bit rich for my blood at the moment . Steve
  9. Aloha , I just replied Mahalo Steve
  10. I've been the victim of paint peel under the gas cap as gas expands & spews out , My new build on my 1970 I used an aluminum flip cap straight inside the short filler tube. I tapped the neck for a 1/8 pipe breather tube as a vent, fuel proof silicone & pushed the flip cap assembly cap straight onto the neck , it's a nice tight fit. I retained the cap outside but fill straight into the tank . Previously I added a 6" rubber hose to the gas pump nozzle to extend the pump to get a proper fill , so opened the trunk anyway .
  11. Long Beach Blue on my son's car , my original car in my avatar.
  12. Thanks for the positive feedback Andrew, FYI the retro is coming but the Sport is going to take some beating IMHO but it's variety of our little cars that is all the fun .
  13. No need to remove dash, mine was trashed & I removed it after paint ( in a hurry to not miss the painter's space ) Unclip all the loom at the firewall inside & it drops down for easier access.
  14. Here is the 2nd option , Sport Model in Silver ( looks like aluminum iinca ) they are light weight by the way
  15. I have these left over seats , not a matching pair 1 head rest missing & 5 rims 3 are painted dark grey , all tires hold air Local pick up only , they are at my old shop & I don't want to move them to my storage if possible Wheels are in good condition just dusty ( body shops all around my old shop ) Wheels $60 Seats Free 562 447 4205 is my cell .
  16. I put an LSD in my new keeper 02 , I too am excited by the prospect , unfortunately I won't get another Willow Springs Big track day in before I move to Kona Hawaii but there are plenty of twisty roads to have fun on ( radar detector on board ) over there .
  17. To each his own , but the white piping on the carpet ! I thought he'd left an electrical cord in there at first glance , I too like diamond upholstery but all white is a little overpowering .
  18. Yes the first photo is my jumper cables & temporary wiring to join all the required circuits , a thinning of wires, re routing to remove twists & crossovers and I was able to make a decent looking loom .
  19. Cheers Larry , it's the Never say Die British Bulldog spirit that keeps us going "We will never surrender " Winston Churchill
  20. Be careful, with those regulators , the ethenol , hardens the diaphragm and the leak, spray fuel & yer car burns down !!! If you can find one the BEST one is a Malpassi Filter King made in Italy superb piece of equipment .The only one that works according to a C.A.R.B. report I read on fuel regulators, it removes the pulses in the fuel line to irradicate the hammering the valve takes in the float bowl
  21. FYI I'm not making the roof racks a friend of mine is , it was just an idea I had & we designed them together with the 02 in mind
  22. You could do that no problem , a good UV protected clear coat would be fine, scotch brite the welds for uniform colour
  23. I deleted the washer/delay BS & just have 2 speed wipers .I also did the fuse box resto in vinegar & salt, that worked well.
  24. I just did the freeway test with my 18 yr old daughter as co pilot , she has bionic hearing Pleased to report no whistle at all up to 81mph with a gps speedometer.
