  1. I have made the decision to use a E21 323i radiator for my M20 swap and before I order one I would like to get some feedback on which one most people use. The early model E21 323i cars came with a radiator that has two upper mounting tabs and the lower outlet stubs out parallel to the radiator. In addition, the early model lower radiator hose is two pieced and has a "temp sending unit" between them. The later E21 323i radiator is different than the early version. The late model E21 323i radiators use a single upper mount, the lower outlet stubs out at an angle, and the lower radiator hose is one piece which deletes the "temp sender unit". Contrary to the pictures I have seen on the forum, I am leaning towards the early version radiator since the lower outlet stub would, assumingly, allow for better clearance, plus using the early radiator and lower hose assembly provides a spot to plug in the electric fan wiring harness. I have linked the two radiator for reference. Any feedback or additional information for determining the correct radiator would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. 2. Thanks for the clarification. The plug I am looking for is the large female plug that the engine wiring harness plugs into. It is mounted on the body above the brake booster.
  3. I am looking for one from a 325i and I am pretty sure the e is different.
  4. The yards around my area currently do not have any E30s so I am looking to see if I can find an E30 C101 body connector and bracket for my M20 swap, preferably from a 1987 to match my 1987 harness. I read that the wire for the tach is located next to the ECU on 1987 E30s so I would like one from the matching year just to make sure there is no confusion while wiring but I'll take one from a different year if necessary. Thanks.
  5. Can you post a pic of the "massaged" area along the rain tray? I may be interested in a set for a back up in case my the mounts I fabricated present an issue. I have attached a few pictures of my existing set up for reference.
  6. I'll take the brake fluid reservoir and the pipe inserts. Email sent.
  7. I have one sitting in the garage that I recently pulled out for my M20 swap. It is in good condition. I am in Gig Harbor, WA.
  8. Looking for a good E21 323i radiator for my M20 swap. Location: Olalla, WA
  9. So to make a long story short, I have fabricated my own engine mounts which positioned the angle at approximately 17.5 degrees. I was using 18 degrees as a reference since that is what my E21 was showing. However, I have seen on a lot of people post 20 degrees. How important is it to get it at 20 degrees. I would think that I would be fine since the main driver is having the oil sump level so there is no starvation issues. My sum show level. Thanks for any input.
  10. Quick question for the M20 guys, how many of you have deleted the factory recall that installed the bypass valve and associated hose to the heater core? I am assuming that the valve has some sort of thermostat that only loops coolant back to the engine when the engine is on the verge of overheating and does not typically loop coolant during normal operations. I want to make sure that my assumed assumption is correct and that this valve does not normally loop coolant for temp regulation. Thanks.
  11. I am not too worried about the transmission mount but more concerned if the placement of the engine and trany would allow you to use the E30 drive shaft. The transmission mount is different on the G245 than the G260. I am more interested to hear if they are the same length. If they are then Manimal's engine mounts should theoretically place the engine and transmission in the same place to utilize the E30 drive shaft. I already have fabricated my own mounts and have the engine and trany installed but if I can get away using an E30 shaft and down pipe then it might be in my best interest to buy his mounts. I guess I need to just run to a pick n pull and snag an E30 shaft and see if it already fits. My placement and Manimal's looks similar.
  12. Can anyone tell me if the 323i trany and the E30 drive shaft would work with the engine mounts? I understand the trany mount is different.
  13. I lost one of my center caps for my Alpina style rims that I have on my e21 323i. The rims are 15" and came from this company : http://www.vintagepartsusa.com/catalog/Historic-German-Parts/BMW-Wheels/WHEEL2/5-X-120-E16.2-16x7-Automotive-Wheel I was told that Bavauto uses the same manufacture for thiers but it appears that the replacements they have listed are the small chrome ones. If anyone knows a source where I can purchase a replacement that would be very helpfully. I am specifically looking for the small black cap without logos. Thanks.
  14. I am looking for a replacement center cap for on of my rims that is on my e21 323i. I am specifically looking for the small black cap without logos. the link below is the company where the rims came from. They said they are not longer available. : http://www.vintagepartsusa.com/catalog/Historic-German-Parts/BMW-Wheels/WHEEL2/5-X-120-E16.2-16x7-Automotive-Wheel Location: Washington
  15. Can anyone confirm for me that the only difference in an early model and the late model radiators for an e21 323i is the mounting? I notice that everyone uses the late model in M20 swaps and I would like to know if that decision was based on the mounts or size? I am trying to determine which one to purchase. Any help would be appreciated. Also, how are M20 guys mounting the bottom of the 323i radiators in a 2002? I am taking some rough measurements and can see that there might be an interference with the location of the hood support braces that extend to the bottom of the core support and where the bottom of the 323i radiator would be located.
  16. So it has been a long time since I have added an update to my project and I thought I would share the current status of my 2002. I started the project back in 2008 (http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/67331-first-2002-project/?hl=chad). Currently I am in the middle of a M20 swap. My goal is to make the swap look as factory as possible and will be using the G245 and 323i radiator. I know this a brief description but I know most members know the basics of the swap. I hope to keep updates current.
  17. Has anyone on the forum completed an M20 swap in an auto 2002? I am curious how much bigger the auto trany tunnel is compared to the 4 sp cars and how much less tunnel modification is required for a G260.
  18. Does anyone have or know where I can find a good 5 sp? I am in desperate needed of on asap and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  19. Can someone confirm what water pump they use on their M20 swaps? I was told that there is a M20 water pump that might have a lower profile than others, i.e. one from a 1979 323i. Thanks.
  20. My mounts are fine and just would like to verify the thickness. I am in the middle of a M20 swap, following 6 goes into 2, and when the driver side mount is bolted up the other side of the block rests on the passenger side mount which does not allow me to install it. I know I might have some other issue but that is the first think I think of.
  21. I don't have the measurement now but when I get home I'll post it. I am just trying to get some feed back before I start working on the car this weekend.
  22. Can someone please measure the the thickness of their driver side engine mount bushing? Mine looks a lot thicker then what I see in peoples pics. Thanks.
  23. I believe that I have the correct angle for the engine (bottom of the oil pan is flat) and have the 72 degree gussets on the passenger side. How much clearance do you have from the bottom of the pan to the cross-member? I have approximately a "finger thickness". I wonder if having it too low would be the reasoning for the pinching between the mounts. I will work on it more this weekend and try to figure it out. Maybe I should have made the driver side mount first instead of the passenger side.
