  1. So I bought the 24mm wrench and cut off the crows foot so it will slip into my breaker bar (jack handle) and applied WD40 and heat and still no luck. I ended up splitting my vise in half once I added a second jack handle-total of about 5ft of bar. My only objective was to change the bearing since the driveline is out of the car but now what? Run the old bearing and source a spare??
  2. I bought my set from bav auto too and had no problems. One was a URO.
  3. I have a set of grills from a 1600 that are in great shape. $200 OBO
  4. What brand does BavAuto sell?? I just had their front/rear installed and they fit well and I think the seals were URO.
  5. Thats a good call. The one that was just removed was the original and now that I recall I think I might have adjusted the idle
  6. Just installed a new used brake booster and now the car idles a lot higher than before. Does every booster function differently and idle adjustment will be needed or did I just install a bad booster? If I disconnect the vacuum line from the booster the car idles normally.
  7. Yesterday I picked up a 320 LSD and when I get home I see that it has 8mm out-put shafts but the side covers are a 6 bolt-so I measured both the LSD and the 02 diff and they are they same. Had me puzzled so I pull out the shafts and to my surprise they are 02 shafts. I am not going to run that setup because I have a spare 320 diff that has the 10mm shafts. I just never knew that you can put the 02 shafts in to the 320 diff to eliminate spacers. Dont know how well it would work since the 02 shafts will not pickup the C clip in the 320 diff but this guy was running it that way. The one on the right was the one that was in the LSD
  8. can you take a pic of the other side? I will take the one w/o lock.

  10. I have a related question - I need to know if you can interchange the output flanges from the same style of diff?? My current setup is a 320 open diff with 10mm/6 bolt sides and just purchased a LSD with 8mm/6 bolt sides and want to put the 10mm flanges on the LSD.
  11. I have a bumper from a 68 that is just collecting dust and would like to see it go to a good home. Willing to hear all offers, 200 OBO. http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/pts/1175426636.html
  12. Sure. Send me an email naming your price. wallinc@u.washington.edu. Besides the size what is the differance with a tii and non-tii??? Is there any alternatives?? Any street cars running a non-booster setup?
  13. I am putting an E21 MC on my car and big brakes in the front-already have the E21 drums in the rear- and ran into a problem. I went to pull the original MC off my 02 and one of the studs on the booster spun out on me so I had to pull the whole unit out. What alternatives do I have for replacing the original booster?? Not afraid of running a no-booster setup but not sure how to run the brake lights and how practical it would be for the street.
  14. Not sure who makes TEP's ITB set-up but that could be another source. http://www.racetep.com/bmwmainframe.html
  15. I'll search next time I am over at the shop-should be later today.
  16. that is smaller than the 320 CV I put on my half shafts.
  17. Put the CV's on last night and side-by-side the 79 CV is the same width as the 02 just w/10mm bolts.
  18. damb...I need a thesaurus. So for me to understand 100%, any CV's newer than 79 are narrower than the earlier CV's (8mm or 10mm)??
  19. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=1733&mospid=47175&btnr=33_0479&hg=33&fg=25 So #4 and #5 are the boot kits???? Or rebuild kit??
  20. I should be working on my car tonight and I have a complete 02 half shafts and complete 79 half shafts and will measure everything tonight. Thanks for the feedback on the use of the 320 shafts and outer 02 CV...I was thinking of going that direction with my setup to get away from using spacers.
  21. So I did a little research and at RealOEM the part numbers for a 79 and an 82 are the same. So I am not sure why the link states the use of 79 specific CV's. I am in the process of doing the same swap and decided to swap CV's rather than drilling the diff flanges.
  22. I cannot see a difference with ends of the half shaft but is there an inner or out to them??? Getting ready to drill for the 320 diff and want to double check.
  23. I have Bilstein inverted coilovers on the front on my rally car and the best way I can describe them is picture a 02 front insert and flip it. Look at the fronts and see the differance between the front and rear. My rears are not inverted.

  25. So its been a while since my last update but I have made progress. -drpped the engine/tran -IE suspension (stage 2's, fixed camber plates, front strut brace) -urethane bushings -bilstien sports -new steering -installed most glass -320 fan and radiator -E30 battery relocation Hopefully I can keep the ball rolling and have her finished before summer. Its nice to have a 320 on the side of the shop. Although she doesnt look much like a 320 anymore I have used many of her parts to update the project. I cut out the lower radiator mounts and mounted them in my 02.
