  1. I'm looking to refurbish my newly acquired '72 inka 02 with fresh suspension bits. All will be kept stock, except would like to add Bilstein HD's and Suspension Techniques sway bars. Any recommendations on who might have the best prices? Thanks. T.R. '72 2000tii touring polaris '72 2002 inka
  2. Give 'em hell Bill. Thanks again for the great work done with my tii touring. All the best. T.R. '72 polaris 2000tii touring
  3. Give 'em hell Bill. Thanks again for the great work done with my tii touring. All the best. T.R. '72 polaris 2000tii touring
  4. I remember speaking with you a while back when you worked with Max. I ended up ordering a set of tii alloys for the touring. You were very helpful. All the best. T.R. "72 2000tii touring polaris
  5. Has anyone ordered the $700 1600/2002 German OEM carpet from this company? http://www.roadworksauto.com/Carpets/bmw.htm If so, please comment and post pics if available. Thanks. T.R.
  6. I merged onto the 101 E. just before the grade up to see you and your bride-to-be in my rearview mirror. As my polaris 2000tii touring is still with Bill Holmes, I was forced to drive my silver 528e on that fine Sunday yesterday. You seemed to be taking it easy cruising the slow lane...perhaps not to disturb the misses? The sienna 02 looked sweet and you two surely looked happy together driving on a warm sunny day. All the best for continued happiness. Please post some pics of you two with the 2002 on your wedding day! T.R.
  7. Was driving up the east bound 101 from Camarillo around 10:45 and spotted a clean sienna 02 in rearview mirror. I allowed it to pass me...looked great and had a sunroof. Male drive with passenger. Anyone here??? T.R.
  8. Just discovered that Maximillian Imports also carries a salt and pepper carpet kit for around $300. US supplier and they did not know the name. Anyone using one of theirs??? Their site offeres no pictures unfortunately. T.R.
  9. Sounds like you have a good deal of experience with these kits. I've asked them to send me a sample of their "black and fawn" carpet. T.R.
  10. I realized that my confusion with two different "Bimmer Parts" websites. It is the Bimmer Parts (bimmerparts.com) in PA that used to carry some really nice salt and pepper kits, but NLA. Too bad because the carpet shown in your pics from them looks to be a dead ringer for OEM. I have been looking at the Bimmer Parts Co. in MD website. They sell a "gray" Ultimate carpet Kit for about $330, state on phone it is close to original, but no pictures available. Oh well... T.R.
  11. Spoke with Bimmer Parts re: their Ultimate Carpet Kit (gray). They report it looks like the original salt and pepper pattern, but have no pictures. If someone out their has their carpet kit installed (gray), would you please post a picture. Thanks. T.R.
  12. Hello Esty, I checked their site, but find no link for 02 kits. Perhaps I missed it? T.R.
  13. I've done a FAQ search re: the closest match for original German loop salt and pepper carpet. Two sources seem to be Bimmer Parts (Ultimate Carpet Kit) and Auto-Interior.com (Black Fawn) The links are: http://www.auto-interior.com/loopcarpet2.htm#colors http://www.partsbmw.com/showproducts.asp?MainCat=1968%20~%201976%20BMW%202002%20Restoration%20Parts&SubCat1=Interior&CookieID=AEU28KJ87 Do any member have experience with either of these kit sources? If so, please post impressions. Thanks. T.R.
  14. Any tii owners out there using a MotoMeter quartz clock, labeled "Iveka" on the dial? Red minute/hour and white second hand. I have one NOS just sitting in the box. The clock in my tii touring has not worked for a long time and I thought about replacing it with the quartz. Are these quartz versions less prone to breaking down? Thanks. T.R.
  15. Seriously though, I have been looking for a clean CA colorado 02. Perhaps you might consider selling it to someone who plans to remain in SoCal, rather than taking it out to NY. Send me an email if you might consider this option. Thanks. T.R. email: tsteph12@hotmail.com
  16. Need to ask you a question about the work with Bill Holmes. Thanks. T.R. email: tsteph12@hotmail.com
  17. Without hesitation, Wolfgang and his son Fred are the top 02 mechanics in the east Bay. I no longer live up there and sure miss having them as my mechanics. Tell them Tom Stephenson says hello! The info is: Wolfgang's Foreign Car Service 1275 Parkside Drive Walnut Creek (925) 947-6848
  18. Would someone please confirm what the proper Kugelfischer serial would be for a '72 tii seen on the triangular metal side plate (outside of pump housing). Thanks.
  19. Yes, I have done this. Since you have the title it should straight-forward. You may have to go directly to the DMV, not the autoclub; if they give you a hassle, get a temporary registration permit, take the car to the DMV, they will register the car with new plates, have them photocopy the old plates, old title (keep copiies for yourself-do not surrender the plates) make an application to re-authorize the plates, it is a statement of facts/special circumstances, eventually the original registration/plates will be authorized. Thanks RK! Great information. T.R.
  20. Thanks for the info. The car in question is a '72, so no smog certificate required.
  21. Thanks for the reply and information. I did a search for this "special unit" with DMV, but could not locate the link. Does anyone hear still have this link info from a prior discussion? Thanks. T.R.
  22. Front and rear original blue plates are still on the car. The last registration from mid-eighties shows that VIN matches plates on car. T.R.
  23. This has been discussed in a similar context, but have seen inconsistent opinions....If a CA blue plate car still has both front and rear plates, old title linking plates to VIN, but has fallen off the DMV system, is it possible to register this car to a new owner and still keep the original plates? If so, please be specific as to the proper steps involved. Thanks in advance. T.R.
