  1. You are correct. The '72 tii's came with plastic intakes and a 121 head. To rebuild the block using 9.5:1 Mahle pistons, I went with a fresh E12 head and metal intakes. The metal intakes came standard on the '73 tii's. This was an improvement as the plastic ones had a tendency to crack. T.R.
  2. Actually, I purchased a set of the new factory reissued tii alloys. The original ones were not in very good condition. I had a credit with Maximillian Imports so just ordered a set of four. The casting/metal is reportedly improved in terms of strength and finish compared with early 70's originals. They are beautiful to look at for sure. Thanks for all the comments. T.R.
  3. I was fortunate enough to purchase this '72 2000tii touring in 2003 from the original German owner living in San Diego. He brought the car to CA from Munich in 1973 and drove it progressively less as he aged, primarily leaving it in storage. It features a factory "Sport Paket" which includes black Recarro front seats (similar to early 911s), sport steering wheel, Hella front fog lamps, alloys, and US-style turnsignals. To date, I've had the original block rebuilt last year with high compression pistons and upgraded the suspension via JF Pro BMW (Jack Fahuna). Next on the list would be to freshen up the interior a bit, get new rocker trim pieces, and have the rear hatch door better aligned and and replacement of its skinny little shocks. Then maybe I'll just drive it and finally break the engine in... Needless to say I love this car! T.R.
