  1. .. .. I pulled my spark plugs out of my car today and found this. The plugs have about 4000 miles on them. Each was gapped at about 0.022. How would you diagnose the condition of these plugs? I replaced them with new NGK plugs gapped at 0.035 the car has a Crane XR700 optical ignition system, Bosch red coil. Engine is a rebuilt tii motor with 9.5 CR pistons, 32/36 carb, vacuum advance dizzy feedback appreciated thanks dave

  3. thanks everyone for the comments. At this point I've come to the conclusion that its a case of the timing cover and heads not being milled simultaneously. So my next question is, what can I do about it. Is it safe to have them milled with the engine in the car? Or am I looking at pulling the engine, etc., to get a final fix. thanks again dave
  4. I've searched the archives for this problem and know that it could be due to a number of causes. I've got a newly rebuilt engine with a fresh valve cover and new valve cover gasket. It was installed with the proper torque procedure and with no goop (installed dry). I have mucho fresh oil leaking out of the gasket. Its even splashing out and getting on the sheet metal and spark plug wires. Here's a quick web page with some photos showing the ugliness. http://gallery.mac.com/dpmeaux#100156&view=grid&bgcolor=black&sel=0 requesting advice on how to deal with this. I do have an extra valve cover which hopefully isn't warped. thanks
  5. Its a shame. When it started in the the name Speed Vision (I think that was what they called themselves) it wasn't so Nascar oriented. Used to be able to get a good bit of F1 stuff there. Then they made the marketing decision to appeal to the Nascar craze. I rarely watch it anymore.
  6. . Becker USA have a small section on their USA web page which would seem to imply that its coming to the states. http://www.mybecker.com/enUS/index.html just got an email from their US sales people and they said it would be in the states by May or June
  7. has anyone seen this? http://www.classicdriver.com/uk/magazine/3300.asp?id=12924 In-car radio specialists Becker have produced a ‘Classic’ Mexico radio that might look old-fashioned from the outside but is packed with modern hi-tech equipment. Behind the 1960s façade lies an ‘infotainment’ system that includes, navigation, telephone, radio and card reader.
  8. I found this article from a Mercedes club wagon site which goes through the steps to use a Gunson exhaust analyzer http://www.clubgwagen.com/gtech.php?pageTitle=tech%20article&sid=item&tid=17 Just curious if anyone has tried this and if this article would be a good guide to get my Weber 32/36 in shape (I have the CD recipe for jets already in the carb)
  9. thanks bill would it have use in a Weber carb'd 'O2?
  10. what exactly is a split second O2 meter?
  11. I've got original Texas 1972 plates on my Verona. Texas allows 'period' plates if you register it as a antique or classic car.
  12. this problem seems to have gotten worse. Has anyone tried this McCuff thing? I watched the video. It looks like only 1 1/2" of nozzle goes in the filler tube, but it might work
  13. I've got a Schroth Rally3 harness belt and the instructions say to attach the rear belt to 'anchor point C", or the 'C' pillar. I take it that there is a mounting point just above the rear window clip hidden beneath the pillar material. Has anyone made this attachment? thanks dave
  14. Dave thanks. It sounds like you had a similar issue. I've talked to the restoration shop who put the brakes on and they said that the problem could be that its a 'sticky' caliper. This translates to a moving pad inside the caliper. If the fix is as easy however as changing the pads, I'm all for it and its worth a try. In the meantime, it doesn't appear to be a critical issue. Just a little noisy. so, are you driving your 'O2 in China? :-)
  15. These are Tii upgrade front brakes and are not original to the car. The pins do go through to the holes, you just can't see that in the picture.
  16. There's been a fairly audible metallic clicking sound coming from my left front wheel. I finally removed the wheel and took a look. Its coming from one of the brake pads inside the caliper. One of the pads (the outside one), is moving up and down about 3/16 of an inch as the rotor is turning. The metal backing of the brake pad is hitting the caliper bar guides like a little mini hammer. I can't figure out why this pad is moving up and down. The inside pad does not move. I'm attaching a link to a picture I made which shows what is happening. Any help appreciated thanks dave [/img]
  17. my old lenses were kind of like that. I attacked them with some Meguires plastic cleaner. Take them out and clean the inside plastic surfaces. Here are some before and after. It made a huge difference. before after the stuff
