  1. Welcome to the madness, and the joy of 2002's. Your other cars are ones I admire and have never owned. Don't count on the miles being correct as some others will probably talk to as well. And in fact it doesn't matter anyways unless your car is a unicorn form the original owner and he/she has documentation to prove the mileage. Love the color and the fact it's original. Obviously a well cared for car.
  2. Well I’m happy to hear that you’ve talked with the gang there. I have a 3700 Rally motor on order for a e28 535is and it’s supposed to be ready in about a month.
  3. My 2002 was my daily for a long time in the late 70’s to the mid 80’s. Family reasons meant eventually needing bigger cars, e28’s, Ford Expeditions, an X3 and lately newer Audi’s. After selling my A5, my daily has been our tii. And I’m building out an e28 535is that will become my daily, but that project is on hold due to shoulder surgery. It is surprising how small a 2002 is, and frankly how small an e28 is. And a 2002 is basically a sheet metal box. Little in the way of protection if an idiot hits me. i don’t think I could go back to the tii as a daily. I love driving the car, but I feel like I’m a moving target.
  4. So what is everyone using for an AFR meter? I'm not interested in modifying my exhaust system to accept an O2 sensor so I'm looking for a portable handheld meter. Innovate has one the LM-2, but it's also $300. https://www.amazon.com/Innovate-Motorsports-BASIC-Digital-Wideband/dp/B001S7W836 TIA
  5. I'd send it back for a full refund My experience with IE is they have crappy Chinese manufacturers that don't know their way around a car, or welder. I fought fitting a full IE stainless exhaust system for my son's 2002 and I could never get it to fit. The downpipe was too short, the center resonator always hit the tranny tunnel wall, etc. Very frustrating and I wish I had junked the whole thing and boxed it back to them. My impression is its a way to generate $ for racing. I'm looking for a header for my M30, they and Supersprint are about the only ones available, and I'm going to wind up spending way more for a quality product that fits.
  6. Respectively disagree. A tanking market can lead to all kinds of issues in the economy. Scared people don’t act rationally. Over priced collectibles like cars generally are @ sign things are getting out of hand.
  7. I will be bringing Italian Weber 40 DCOE2's, side draft intake manifolds, sun visors, various speakers never installed, e36 center console, couple sections brand new knee trim, and whatever else I can find!
  8. In 1978, my wife to be and I were skiing in Lake Tahoe. My mom and dad had driven to Kirkwood Meadows in their RV and we were supposed to meet up with them. Now I hate, and I mean hate putting chains on tires. It was snowing like mad when we left Tahoe on the way to Kirkwood. At the time I owned a Chamonix 1970 2002, skinny tires, single barrel carb, an awesome car. We wound up virtually plowing the road for a good part of the way to Kirkwood. The snow started off about 6" deep in Tahoe and eventually about 12" deep in the parking lot at Kirkwood. The road to Kirkwood has a good enough climb that it was do not stop territory, I'd never get going again without chains. The car never skipped a beat the entire way. I miss that car.....
  9. not a vintage photo but they are vintage cars
  10. on our way home from the Vintage at the Vineyards some years back
  11. Live and learn. first motor I rebuilt in the 70’s I wound up with a bearing about an inch in diameter with a 1/2” inside diameter. I was stumped. I asked a good friend what it was and he asked me if I installed the pilot bearing………
  12. Once in a while they do in fact ring a bell at the top............

  17. my diff was sold to me over ebay years ago by a group that races 2002's they essentially created an LSD inside a stock 2002 diff case so there are no external markings to indicate an LSD
  18. not sure how to post this but I'm looking for a 535i or 535is mechanicals aren't important as I'll be building out whatever i find into a DD and will refresh all the bits and pieces Manual tranny. red with tan interior is my preference with sport seats Thanks and please let me know if i need to tow this to another area
  19. this is not a fail safe method I have a lsd in my tii and the wheels spin in opposite directions I don't believe my lsd is that worn, either, as it acts exactly as it should when driving
