My 73 2002 had those pistons in it when I got it. (not saying that they were original) We replaced them with the taller piano tops ala tii.

You might have had piano top Mahles, but they were not the same.

The pistons shown above won't work in a 2002 because the pin location is 3 mm higher to accomadate the 86 mm stroke of the M30B32 (2002 has 80 mm stroke.)

There was a clue in the photo, the pistons are stamped "3.2" where for this diameter, a six cylinder with the same bore & stroke as an 02 4 cyl would be 3.0 liter (that's 150% of 2.0L)
