Schrick 304 timing question

Are you looking for the lobe center number or ?

The easiest way to locate yours is to split the degrees of .050 before max lift and .050 after max lift via the following linked method.

Timing Your Cam

I believe your cam is ground on 108 centers and I only assume that from the catalog.

Personally I plot all cams on a cam doctor or on graph paper at .005 increments with a dial indicator in the lathe. You can be surprised how much variation can show up end to end. But that is just me and I can be a little over the top on preparation.

I have it all set. I guessed that it should be -2.deg due to the block being milled 30 thou. I set it up that way and low and behold, the intake started to open at 44 deg BTD just like the good folks at Schrick said it should.

I'm gonna mess with it some more tomorrow just to make sure, but I think I got it.

Check when it's going closed, too-

Schrick's numbers SEEM to be at 1mm of lift... but that might be just

for duration.

I found that 3 degrees was about right for a 1mm cut, too, so we're

in the same ballpark.

I like the idea of putting it on centers in the lathe- have to try that!

Wonder if I could make a bracket to mount the head on the cross slide

and run the thing in the block with the valves?

Think the coolant pump would supply enough oil for the rockers?

I got it all riged up and the intake starts to move at 44 DTDC. Opens to 10.25mm of valve lift.

Man! That's going to make one hell of a noise through those 45mm TWM's!
