overheating

Lately my 73 2002 automatic has been overheating. Put in a new 3-core radiator, the oil's changed, etc. The gauge seems to fluctuate suspiciously, with the needle going from mid-level to high pretty quickly. Which makes me think it may just be the gauge. I don't live in a hot climate. What are some likely culprits? Thanks.

Have you added additional ground wires to your cluster yet? If not this will usually help.

Here is a link with a good pic on where to add the new ground wire.
