I took off the grills today and look what I found. They say SPARTAN on them, is that stock. they had no wires leading to them. and this is the wheel I have. Anyone have any ideas on how to hook these up. there is a Hella relay under the driver's side dash.

thanks,

chet

were made by Hella; Sparton horns are US-made replacements. Also, the OEM horns had separate ground wires; most US horns ground thru the mounting bracket.

There should be some wires (two sets, one for each horn) leading into the area behind the grille; one wire should be brown (the ground), the other one is hot when you push the horn button on the steering wheel--test with a voltmeter. I'll bet the wires are shoved down into the little space where the outer nose panel meets the radiator support panel.

When you find the wires, if you intend to use the Sparton horns, you can either ignore the brown ground wires, or fasten 'em to the horn bracket for a more reliable ground.

Nice steering wheel; I have a similar one on my '69. Now you need a mahogany shift knob to go with it.

... not sure why. My '76 had only one horn and wiring for only that one, though it did have the mounting point for a second horn. I replaced the sick original horn with a pair of junkyard E34 horns, and the sound is wonderful. I added a short 2-wire harness from the left horn to the right.

my 76 also had one on the driver side, and it was a dead dog. Replaced with two, and two diff tones for that euro sound.

That 'horn' you found looks like a cheap honker. I bought a new set, just like them & they sound like a ford escort.
