ahhhh power cut out

After rebuilding the carb with new gaskets, cleaning ect, and C.D.'s jetting rx, the car idles kinda rough but not terribly bad. I have done the lean best idle, and when i did, it never seemed to run extremely smoothly.

Also, it breaks up badly under WOT, but only in third and fourth gear. Before it would do 95 mph easy, now it wont hardly get to 80.

Is it because im so far above sea level (ATL area) that C.D.'s jets are not the best for my car, or something else??

Please help, i want my power back :)

Peachtree City is 920 ft above sea level.

Batery is good, ign. coil is two or three months old, new cap, rotor, and condenser were replaced around the same time as the ign. coil.

There is a noticeable change when the idle adj. screw is turned; but when i have adjusted it in the past, i notice the engine smoothing out more drastically than now.

As for everything else, i assume is in fine condition, as the car ran like a freakin top before i touched it. I wanted to try the different to see if i could improve my fuel eco, and possible get it to run even better.

perhaps the jets are not in the right

Primary - Secondary positions ?

float bowl not filling up properly ?

secondary not opening?

missing tiny ruber seal rings on idle jets ?

screwed in to the side of the carb

I'm pretty sure that i put the jets in the correct spots, but i will try giving them a switch. Could it have anything to do with the power valve? This is the only thing that i didn't replace.

The floats could be i culprit i guess. But they were adjusted fine before, so it makes me doubt that.

The car stilll revs up fine in neutral, and seems to make good power in 1st and second, but it seems to be something about the amount of load in third and 4th, but climbs up to 4500 or 5k and then hits a wall. Almost as if your hitting the rev limiter; it bogs down then bounces back.

I guess i should have followed the old saying of "if its not broken, dont fix it". ..

I would rather have a well performing car than better gas mileage. i guess i will just have to live with 13 mpg

13 MPG around town is doing your motor no favors !

your deluting the lubrication oil and fouling

the internals with overly rich mixture

you should be slightly above 15 MPG (15 - 19mpg)

minimum at your worst idle/stop-n-go/city

congestion reading ...... and 24 - 28 mpg steady

speed (55 - 75 mph) highway touring with your

WEBER 32/36

just another side note - hope your not running

some sort of cold cooling thermostat ?

your operating temp should be 176*F MIN !!

this also effects your air/fuel mixtures -

but not the poor high rpm/load trouble your experiencing

and ya needs a healthy charging system :

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
