Yep, these just push on. If it is worn, you might be able to use a makeshift shim, (part of a paper clip...?) to hold it on more securely. If your cables are not moving freely, that might be a contributing factor as well.

place, I'd suggest using a very limited quantity pf something non-hardening that will give you at least a chance of getting it off in the future without destroying anything - a dab of rubber cement, 3M black weatherstrip adhesive or something similar should work (NOT epoxy, superglue, etc).
