Building an engine for a 2002, years ago the e12 head, 9.5:1 compression 40 mm webers and 292 cam was considered streetable. I will be using standalone iginition and fuel injection. Now the dilema.

I already have:

schrick 304, titanium valve retainers, rocker locks, double valve springs

both an e12 and an e21 head (which to use?)

e21 2.0 bottom end and block.

I would like 160-170hp and still be streetable with 7.5k rev limit.

Max compression for 93 pump gas.

Max timing to use?

I run a 304 with 9.5 pianos in a E12 and have no clearance issues.

But the critical factor in necessary clearance is deck height. Stock cylinder head 'full' deck thickness = 5.078 or greater. The minimum recommended deck height for piano tops & 292/304 Schrick with stock thickness head gasket = 5.065. Or you'll need a thicker head gasket - Cometic comes in greater thicknesses.
