e30 318i compatibility with 2002

Hello All

I currently am wrecking an early e30 318i. Also im expecting to pick up a 2002 in the near future as a project.

Just wondering what i can keep off the e30 that i would be able to put to good use on the 2002?

currently i know i could use the radiator and ac thermo fan.

every battery related cable and junction block for

rear battery relocate in the 02 - including all the grounding cables

Keep the fuel injection parts, intake, rail, computer, harness, etc. Come handy when you convert your 2002 to Bosch EFI (or Megasquirt).

The rear battery is a 325i only thing I think.

You can use the 5 speed manual from an M10 318i, but it has no speedo drive. The shift cradle and rod are too long but they can be modified. I am using the 318i propshaft too, but it needs new mounts on the body.

Almost correct.

The 84-85 318i had the battery under the hood whereas the 325s had it in the trunck.

The 90 and 91 318i and 318is had the battery in the trunk.

You can transplant the whole drivetrain into a 2002. They are both M10.

The tranny is a 5-speed but does not have a speedo drive. E30 speedos are driven electrically from the diff.

The ring and pinion in the diff can be installed into a 320i case. It's a nice thing if you want to build a 4.10 LSD.

The wheels fit obviously but there isn't much else. After all, there is a whole generation 3-series between the two models.

So you're using an unmodified 318i M10 driveshaft with the Getrag 240 5-speed from the E30 in an 02 ?

If your answer is yes you've just made me the happiest guy on earth.
