When gassing up the 72....

I have a real heavy vacuum on the gas tank that relieves as I pull the gas cap off, and I have to work it off to release the vacuum. This cannot be right, or is it?

sounds like the tank's not vented

look for the lil hose goin out the back of the filler neck, which goes up to the plastic vapor tank if you still have it. just make sure that stuff is open, and lead the hose underneath the car, so the fumes don't stink up the trunk.

I'm still trying to figure out how to gas up without fuel spitting straight back out at me, down the side of the car and all over me.

I do remember that as well. Do you have a vent from your tank as esty suggests?
