tachometer making tii stall?

long story short, car wouldnt start after a u-turn for some reason

had it towed to a bmw shop, and hours of trying to figure out what was wrong

whenever the cable from the tach is plugged into the coil, it simply wont run

it will start when its unplugged, but as soon as it touches, the car immediately stalls, and now it will idle weakly, and die after a few seconds

anyone know what could cause this?

It should be easy to determine. With the ignition off, connect one terminal from your ohmeter to the tach lead, and the other to ground. If there's a short, you'll get a continuity reading on the meter. Then you can check to see if it's the wire or the tach itself.

If you have an infinity reading, that's not the problem.
