door stop/brake question

Jared

Recommended Posts

I did some searching and it seems like E30 door stops will work with some modification, are they are door stops from other BMW's that will work without modification?? I think I saw 530 somewhere?? I have a donor E30 I can use, but I would rather just bolt something on.

Thanks in advance,

Jared

Thank you, that was the info I needed .

Did you end up using washers to space it out to keep the door from opening too much? I wouldn't mind if my door opened slightly less than stock. I've had a bad experience with it swinging too far open and denting.

I'm afraid someone else will have to take that question on as mine have not yet been installed. My car is still in the paint process. Good luck!

I grabbed a set of Mercedes at the time of the original post- fest-

they indeed are quite a bit longer, but are also a very good design,

as in, once you mod 'em, they'll last longer than the car.

(well, duh, it's a Mercedes!)

What stopped me was the position of the detent- I realized that

it takes some figuring to get the 'click' in the right place as well as the

end stop.

ANd I ran out of energy for it. I seem to remember thinking

that it needed to be cut AND spaced, but I never got as

far as measuring it, as I didn't have a door apart to get dimensions.
