wheel rubbing.. what to do?

when you have the car off the ground, put one hand on the top, and one on the bottom, and see if you can wiggle it. if it can move more than just a hair, the wheel bearing probably needs tightened or replaced. the procedure is in a Haynes repair manual.

you should also try wiggling the wheel diagonally, and if the lower ball joint is bad, it would allow some wiggle there.

for replacement, again consult a manual. But if you have original ball joints, you'll have to drill out some rivets and replace them with bolts.

for confirmation, just peek your head behind the wheel and see where the suspension is flexing when you wiggle it.

while you're at it, go side to side and see if there's any slop in the steering tie rods' ball joints.

i do this pretty much anytime i have someone's car off the ground, since it takes no time.

i have H&R springs with spacers removed, so it sits a couple inches lower. i ran 195-60?-13s before with stock springs for a while.
