1/4 (vent) window seal problem

I bought these online which are OEM, but they seem to be a little different to the originals i pulled out.

These seals are longer and taller in height than the originals. Am i doing something wrong??

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be able to see any black seal at all, just glass and chrome??

The length of the seal is equal on both sides of the glass to clarify.

If you can trim off the excess and it is water/air tight, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Where did you buy the seal from?

Yeah thats how mine looked originally.

The reason i pay good money for these supposedly OEM parts is so that i don't have to do any adjusting, it's really annoying when you pay the excess and it still isn't right.

But your idea did cross my mind if need be.

Hopefully i'm just not doing something right??

Rubber gaskets tend to shrink when exposed to the elements. With these kind of things I try to squeeze as much of the apparent excess into where ever the gasket goes so when it does start to shrink w/ age, I won't be left w/ a gap at the ends.

while ive never done these seals myself im certain if you got them from max they are oe. some of the other seals you get from mobile tradition need to be trimmed. rear quarter windows come to mind. like stated, i would leave them just a tad long like maybe 1mm or so because they will shrink up a touch

In case anyone comes across this thread, what I learnt after buying two sets of these seals OEM, is that they are now different from the original part.

You need to fit them to the glass and chrome as shown in the first pictures. I then used cloth tape to press the chrome/seal firmly to the glass. Marked the excess with a pen, leaving an extra 1mm as rubber shrinks, pulled them apart again, and trimmed the excess. Very annoying. Pics to follow soon.
