Tii running pretty rich, need suggestions on fuel adjustment

My tii has been running rich ever since the completion of the motor rebuild. It runs fine from idle up til around 2500 and then putters if i don't gas it to the floor. Then after 3500 its fine again.

I've heard things from, adjustment of the warm up transmitter to leaking injectors. I wish i knew what the problem was because cruising around town is not as fun as it used to be.

thanks!

Have you downloaded the factory tuning guide from the tiiregistry?

http://www.thetiiregister.com

You should start there. Sounds like you may need to baseline the whole system per the manual and then use a CO meter (its the ONLY way to tune properly) to get the car to run correctly.

When you rebuild the motor and reassembled the injection, did you replace/rebuild the linkage? Is it adjusted properly? What about the warm up regulator? Has that been adjusted?

My mechanic was playing around with the warm up transmitter to adjust my poor cold start. I guess some how its related to the fuel mixture of the car when its at normal operating temperature. But every time he adjusts it, it doesn't seem to get better nor worse.

As for the linkages, they were left untouched during the rebuild, i don't understand how the linkages can cause the vehicle to run rich.

Does your mechanic have the KF manual (or equivalent) that's available on the tii register site? If not , he's shooting in the dark.

The lengths of each piece of throttle linkage are critical.

Edit: I wonder if the throttle body plate is misadjusted.

Linkages have allot to do with it. I had to do as Mr. jgerry2002 in Brooklyn suggested. Start from a fresh baseline. I too downloaded the manual & went from there.

I would still like to find a K-fish professional like that Ben Tsunami (sp). guy that people talk about to have it done totally spot on for one time, so I could really see what a correctly tuned K-fish is like and the true power output of a totally stock Tii.

o alright makes more sense now. i might have consider buying new linkages, because i definitely know the longest one is bent. As for the mechanic, hes a ferrari mechanic, he was basically adjusting the warm up transmitter blind. So i guess the manual is definitely the way to go.

thanks for all the help you guys!

Mine was running rich at first when I replaced all the rubber hoses.

Here's one you probably never heard of: The hose clamp for the fuel return line was preventing the warm up unit from closing completely! It drove me insane for a couple of hours until I realized what was happening. Rotating the clamp a bit solved the problem. This could happen to anyone if you remove and replace the fuel return line.

Recent rebuild, seems rich then seems to lean out and studder a little under part throttle around 3/35k. More throttle seems to push right past it.

My warm up regulator seems to be acting a little strange as well, Had some other issues to attend to, but I hope to address this one later this week.

Keep us informed of your progress.

Messing with the warm up transmitter is tricky at best. If you don't hold the movable shaft while loosening or tightening the nut, the shaft will turn and the holes inside the housing will not line up properly. Need the tuneup guide to do a proper job.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
