How to remove the steering box bearing??

I'm rebuilding the steering box and need to replace the worm gear bearing/cage but have no idea on how to remove it. I've heard the steering box is different from LHD to RHD, i'll add a pic tonight to clarify.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

your photo is showing the outer race of the bearing. it should come right out. perhaps its stuck with a bit of old, dried up grease. use a dental pick or similar item to pry it out. the bearing is merely a bunch of balls captured in a plastic cage.

the top part on there is just a bearing race, it should come off rather easily. I'd soak the whole thing in some penetrating oil overnight. It is a bit of a friction fit, but you should be able to pry it out without much effort. There's probably just some caked-on crud holding it in.

Edit: beaten to the punch, it seems.
