Hi,

Why won't they fit?

I have seen them in the McCartney's book as an upgrade..

Maikel

look closely at the picture in mc cartneys book. one side has been modified. i bought one thinking id use it in my resto. the mounting points are wider on an e21. also, a stock exhaust system wont fit without modification either

Yes, it has been welded.

I thougth that was because these diff covers have some weak points in the casting. I have seen at least 3 that where rewelded.

How much wider are the mounting points?

Thanks

its been a while since i had it but i think less than an inch give or take. you just need to move the mount on the horizontal bar the diff hanger hangs from. it isnt a big deal but my car was all painted and undercoated and i wasnt willing to redo it all. the diff cover does not need to be modified.
