I had one of these with a 2.0L four back in 1976. Never again.

Crazyfast, difficult to shift, uncomfortable ride, leaky roof, poor exterior visibility, not to mention firetrap from rupturing fuel lines.

I have a friend who owns 2 914-6's with less than 30Kmi! They're spectacular and the engine is very musical. I had a 1.7L 914 once...it was a project that never really got off the ground. That car just didn't feel right, probably because it was tired.

That will be one of the cars you look back at and say I wish I had bought that one. What was the asking price, where is it, and is it still for sale. I have a buddy looking for something like that. A few years back I helped him build up a Karmin Ghia conv sort like that. It had 911 brakes and transaxle, a full tube frame/cage, tons of fiberglass, a 356 looking front end, and oh yea a Buick 4.1 liter v6 pushing over 300 HP. It was at a local VW bus shop after returning from paint when the shop burned to the ground. There was no insurance. Over 10 grand in parts and two years worth of work up in smoke. The car belonged to my buddy, and as a token of good gesture, the shop owner gave him a v8 powered beetle. It was a rat, but we got it running well and sold it for $4500.00, so not all was lost.

Do you have health insurance? What does she have in the shotgun? If it is rock salt, I say buy it anyways. It stings like hell, but heals up pretty well. What kind of distance are we talking about? Is she a good shot?
