engine and drivetrain How do I get the ball-socket off of a 4-speed?

Replacing my transmission and I need to get the ball-socket joint for the gear selector off. I see a pin through the top, does it need to be punched out?

Yes, the pin needs to be tapped thru.

line up (or remove) the little metal sheething and then push the pin through. the metal sheething helps to keep it in place. Normally that sheething or metal cover is spun to the point where it hides/blocks the pin from coming out.
