G`day everybody.Does anyone know what 5 speed the early 4 cyl. 520i cars came with.Is it suitable for a conversion into our cars??

The E12 520i could be had with a "sport" 5-spd gearbox & apparently a choice (no idea what the difference is). A Getrag 235 (also available as an option for the "02) and a Getrag 245.

Therefore it (235 at least) should fit fine and probably with little or no modification.

chance that the Getrag 245 OD box is interchangeable with the E21 OD 5 speed - if so, it should work fine.
