Missing washer behind steering wheel nut

I'm changing out the period incorrect steering wheel on my newly acquired 74 tii, and the washer that sits behind the locknut that holds the steering wheel on is missing. I'm guessing (hoping) that maybe I can find one in the metric section at a nearby hardware store, can anyone give me the specs as to the thickness it needs to be? I've looked online for one but no luck so far...thanks.

I'd say that, yes, it's good to have the washer, but it shouldn't make much difference what kind it is. In parts catalog there seems to be two information about the nut size M12 or M14 so I'm not sure which size is correct. I think even half inch would be fine if it fits.

It is not a special washer. Any thickish washer that fits will be fine!
