You’ll never sell this so you might as well give me the seats :)

It's not that far off of what I expect to hear from folks.  As jokingly ridiculous as this statement is, people out there do ask and say such things like they are doing you a favor.   And then there are some who just want to tell you how bad your car is yet they have no interest in buying.

The flood gates be open with this thing thar called the interweb.

But what do I know

I have a European 81 Baur TC (saphirblau).  It has a 1.8 with K injection, 5 speed.  I love the way this car runs and drives, more than my 76 2002!   I will only sell when I'm too old to drive.

My 76 was 49 state and since I live in California I had to put back the smog stuff.  Long story short it is now legal, but I'm thinking of selling because love of the Baur.

$15,000 is a fair price for a 79 Baur.  I paid $23,000 for my 81.

I was also tempted to do the M20 (inline 6) conversion but changed my mind after installing some Alpina recommended stuff.  I'm happy with the 1.8

The 2.0 motor is fine for spirited driving, just don't attempt to drag race any Hondas or Toyotas.  It's faster than my 89 Mustang with a 2.3.

Wow - I’ve not seen that Zender set up before.  Interesting.

That color is great - very classy.  The interior is amazing.  Seems like a lot of car for $15k.

Can you still buy the rear canvas portion of the top, I wonder?

Now my wheels are turning.

indeed!

The fold down portion would most likely be a boat shop custom at this point in time.

The top boot I have only seen for sale ONCE on ebay about 10 years ago.  I passed thinking oh another will come along.

Still holding my breath.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
