Hello PBP.  Fellow Canadian (Ottawa) here.  I am about to spend the 2nd winter working on my 2002.  I looked for two years and was really lucky to find (a perfect) body/ frame in California- but when landing,  turned out to be a leaker and now I am swapping out the motor - and have been spending a fortune on the blasted little thing - but I am quite attached to it.  You already know this, but we Canadians really drew the short straw to having ANY 2002 inventory…..and just posting to say, I will keep my eyes out and if you are in Ottawa and are welcome to drop in and see mine because we appear to have the same taste in cars and I love talking about 2002s.  I initially went out to build something akin to your white car which looks sooo cool….but when my 73 roundie arrived, body was simply too pretty to change the theme….Fiord blue on Nutmeg interior.  All to say, you have support from another Canuck!

I too am looking -- for a friend. Don't want to impose myself on anyone else's search.  Shaping up to be one of those two year slogs.

John is looking for a well sorted car, little or nothing to do. Actually prefers 74-76.  If you see one that someone else passes on I would appreciate a look.

thanks,

best of luck with your project. I’m leaning towards a more stock theme this time around. Fjord on nutmeg is a nice combo.
enjoy the build!

Just purchased a 1973 Golf tii back in September. Body is in rust free condition short of a few pin holes here and there. Rebuilt motor but not running right. Slowly picking away at it. There was a brown 1972 tii I believe for sale not too long ago. There's a 1976 available on Kijiji (prob the same one posted above on BAT).

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
