Updating an e21 sport steering wheel

So I need to update a 320i sport steering wheel to install on a 69 2002 project

Want to add the small spring loaded contact button to the wheel to make contact with the ground ring on the steering column 

can I just use the button from the bus wheel ?

That can work, or you can cut/bend the brass Contact ring on the wheel so that it works like a spring/arm to make contact with the ring on your car.

Here is what I did to adapt the e21 wheel to my '76.

 

Eliminate the spring-loaded button.

Straighten two of the three tabs opposite the ground tab on the wheel ring.

Insert a conical spring (from the bottom of a flashlight or other battery box) under the horn ring on the wheel.

Attach to the steering column. Adjust the turn signal lever as needed.
