Early Nk windshield locking strip

So, what’s the trick to install the locking strip on an early nk. I’m reusing the windshield seal! 

Do you use a tool like the one would use for a 2002? Don’t want to snap the chrome pieces. 

 

I have a late nk windshield seal and locking strip(ugh) on the way in case we fail reusing the original seal etc...

Daniel,  Don’t the early cars have a metal locking strip?  If so it must be put in the seal before installing glass in the car.

Hey Daniel.

You probably already have this done, but if you don't, its best to put the whole thing together on the bench.

Tape everything into place every 10 inches or so. When putting the cord into the slot on the backside, create a about a 6" crossed loop in the center of the top and the two ends crossed about 6" at the bottom. Then set the windshield assembly in place, and start pulling the seal in at the center, both top and bottom. (This keeps the the windshield from riding up out of the opening.) Then work each side into place, saving the upper corners for last.

thanks Doug! Yes windshield is in! Did it the way you suggested. Double looped the rope and had the locking strip in the seal! Seems ok so far.

Wish Bmw still made the early nk seal!!!

Great to hear it. And glad uour seal was good enough to use. I had to cut mine out.

A new early style seal would have been my first choice...
