I hope that you checked the slotted washer underneath was loose and can float a bit. This allows your bearings to expand when hot. 


Yup! I had help when reassembling. One of the head techs at work was on the lift next to me and was kind enough to walk me through it

That's about right- tight enough that the bearings just barely have some slop in them.  Like, .01mm.  If there's no movement at all, they

might be too tight.  If there's more than just the slightest clunk, they're loose.

 

Very unlike most domestic and other RWD vehicles, where a bit of preload's a must.
