I used to know the minimum cylinder head height on these, can someone post a spec or a link?

I have a couple hanging around and need to see if they are OK or junk.

That may be BMW's minimum spec but it may not be the actual practical minimum. It would be good to know that latter figure. I know that I have shaved heads multiple times with no bad result. What they had been taken down to, however, is unknown.

Mine is at 5.061 and i plan on using a thicker head gasket from rmeuropean. It's going to be a better seal between the block and the head.

The math as to how much of a shave effects %of °of cam timing retard is available. The practical minimum is the probably the specified minimum with no other standing wear issues in cam chain and gears, lobe wear, and rocker wear that all affect cam timing. Of course also barring installing an adjustable cam gear. Your head at under minimum thickness should be priced as such.

That 5.061mm thickness is not significantly different from spec. I'd say its fine. Gets some xtra compression, too.

Then of course higher lift cams with domed pistons with weak valve springs and retarded cam timing makes a great recipe. Learn to clay your clearances.
