Looks like only difference is stud length.

They new are slightly taller as well but that may be because they the old ones are 50 years old.

Here is another issue I'm having when I went to thread the shock into the housing.

See image. It simply won't go any further. I feel like there should be a washer to fill the gap.

I'm get the same result when I try to thread that big nut in without the shock inserted.

Also available from BTS in Germany - and exports outside the EU wouldn't have to pay the 20% tax, which would make them 150€ each plus shipping (about $170).

Well, BMW doesn't actually make parts, they use suppliers, so factory doesn't mean anything.
